About

A personalised, creative and empowered approach to self care.

Thortify began its life as a self-initiated project in 2017 when Social Worker Lauren Hunt saw a need to address sustained low level mental health concerns through creative interventions. Uniquely, Thortify’s work was grounded in social theory, harnessing everyday creativity to challenge mental health stigma and build a sense of connectedness for those who participate.

In 2022, Thortify was awarded Arts Council funding for The Art of Self Care; a project designed to support public wellbeing through the development of free self care resources, workshops and events. The funding allowed Thortify to increase its ambition, scope and social impact, bringing together social workers, educators and professional artists from across the globe.

In 2024, Thortify became a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee to continue on their quest to champion the importance of creative self care.
