Frequently asked questions

  • What is creative self care?

Self care looks different for everyone. There is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to self care. We think a creative approach is a helpful way to improve our wellbeing, adjusting what we do dependent on what we need.

  • Do I need to be an artist?

You do not need to identify as an artist to take part. We believe that everyone is creative and that creativity is a big part of what makes us human. This project is about trying new things and learning to enjoy the creative process.

  • How can I get involved?

Getting involved is easy! Take a look around our website for inspiration and carve out a little time for creative play. Follow us on our socials to receive regular updates, creative activities and tasks. Tag Thortify or use #thortify to share your work.

  • Where shall I start?

We suggest that you start where feels right. Trust your intuition and let it guide you. We have plenty of activities and inspiration on our website to help you get started. Whatever you choose to do, be gentle with yourself and go at your own pace.

  • How can I add my work to the virtual gallery?

We are currently building our virtual gallery and we need your art! If you would like to feature in our virtual gallery, send a picture of your work to thortify@gmail.com and we’ll do the rest! Be sure to let us know what the piece is called and what name you would like us to credit you with.

  • Where can I find the self care workbooks?

Our workbooks, Ground Yourself, the Self Care Workbook and our Reflective Journal are available to download now. Visit the workbooks page to download your copies. More resources are on their way.

  • What is Thortify?

We are a creative organisation who are passionate about challenging the stigma surrounding mental ill health. The Art of Self Care was our first project as a team, but we have plenty more magical things in the pipeline.

  • What is the idea behind Thortify?

The commercial self care market can pressure us to take care of ourselves with limited resources like scented candles, fluffy socks and ‘me time’. Thortify want to fortify the notion of self care using social theory, to empower people to make positive, lifelong changes through creative methods, grounded in social science.
