Community Art Hub at The Place

The Place is running a competition to redesign the entrance! Click the button below to find out more.

The Place Activity Centre and arts organisation Thortify are proud to launch our new Community Arts Hub! With huge thank you to the Sherwood community and Nottingham City Council, we managed to raise £10,531 to renovate two rooms, creating brand new workshop and artist space.

The project centred around the renovation of a previously disused part of the community centre. We transformed it from two decommissioned pottery rooms into a vibrant community arts space, which will benefit individuals and groups in the local area & beyond.

  • Artist workspace for 5 creative practitioners available

  • Access to shared exhibition and workshop space

  • Power, water, wifi, tea station and 24/7 access

  • Collaborative community art projects and more!

If you are interested in hiring a workspace, please email thortify@gmail.com to arrange a viewing.

Artist space

Our artist space enable artists to develop socially-engaged practices in a collaborative environment. The Kiln Room has been remodelled to provide 5 workspaces for community-focused local artists working across diverse disciplines. These will be allocated to those who are interested in future funded collaborative projects and whose work foregrounds co-creation.

Community space

Our Community Arts Hub will support us to combat social isolation and mental ill health through creative interventions, such as accessible arts workshops, community exhibitions and events. As co-lead on this project, Thortify are committed to continuing their work with community leaders, organisations, professional artists and the public to promote wellbeing and creative self care.
